Hello loved ones,
Happy belated Valentine’s day. I’ve been exceptionally busy this month with our Love Story Valentine’s Day special last week for which we welcomed cellist Wei Ting Tseng to our ensemble at Sommerro Hotel. We had a fabulous time on stage. The show was sold out and I can’t tell you how magical it was to hear my love songs played with a piano and a cello.
If you’ve ever seen my Valentine’s day shows you will know I am a firm believer that Valentine’s day is a day that we should all be able to share in, regardless of whether of not we are in a romantic relationship. Valentines, galentines, whoever-or-whatever-the-hell-you-want-to-love-entines: love is love is love.
I did originally intend this week’s poem, which is called Lovers, to address the romantic kind of love, or eros as the ancient Greeks called it. That being said, I do think the ideas in the poem can be applied to any type of love.
To me, the central idea in this poem is that we are all different, and that each of us has a vast and unique inner landscape. To love someone is to let them in to see our inner world. And to be loved is for that lover to stand atop the mountain and marvel at how infinite you truly are.
I’m proud of this poem. I think it is a good one!
You are loved.

Lovers
There is a stairway
In my heart
Climb it
Don't stop
Your ascent
Though
The walls
And everything you knew
collapse around you
And fall backwards
Into the past
Rise forwards in me
Meet the skies in me
I have loved you
For many lifetimes
And I will love
More lifetimes still
Be safe in me
Let my blood beat
In your heart
Let my voice
Echo into your silence
Know me
Map me
When you reach a peak
Do not be disheartened by the ranges
Dont cry out that the walk is unfinished
Instead marvel at how much further
In me there is to tread
Rest joyfully in me
Knowing
There is no end to love's riches
No limit to how far you
can learn to love me
"learn to love" is a great line!
