Dear loved ones,
This week I’m sending you a very special treat to your inboxes.
Remember a tiny poem I sent you all a couple of years ago now called Cat Shapes? I’m delighted to share with you here that thanks to the team at Cheshire & Wain, suppliers of luxury cat accessories for fabulous felines, I have been able to bring this poem to life and turn it into a film for National Black Cat Day.
Cat Shapes is one of my shortest poems, and perhaps the poem that people seem to love the most - even dog lovers! It’s one of those poems that took me about 3 minutes to write but seems take on new life every time I perform it. I always find something new in it, although it is only 10 lines long. I sometimes wonder if I will ever write another poem like Cat Shapes. I will always be grateful for this poem, and for my little feline companion, once a stray street cat and now queen of my city apartment.
You can read more about the story behind the Cat Shapes Film on a blog post I wrote for Cheshire & Wain’s journal here as well as taking a peek at some of the behind-the-scenes shots.
So here it is, brought to life on the same desk I wrote LOVE STORY at, my poetry musical of which Cat Shapes is part.
Thanks to the lovely team at Cheshire & Wain for such a fun opportunity to make art, and to the talented crew behind the film, which we filmed in my little apartment in Oslo: director of photography Julie Kristiansen Kvamme, stylist Kristine Granerud & glam artist Aurora Indianna Hay.
The results are purrfect. Enjoy!
Love,
Eleanor Flowers
